The International Respiratory Infections Society (IRIS), together with Aerobiotix, announces Samaritan Albany General Hospital in Albany, Oregon, as a recipient of the IRIS Healthcare Air Quality Seal of Recognition. The program recognizes healthcare facilities that maintain strong air quality practices, with particular attention to surgical spaces, where cleaner air supports patient safety.

The IRIS Healthcare Air Quality Seal of Recognition is awarded to facilities that complete a detailed review of their air quality practices and performance. The process includes evaluation criteria focused on contaminant control, air management protocols, and verification through an on-site audit conducted by certified infection prevention specialists. Recognition through this program reflects a healthcare facility’s attention to creating safer care environments for patients, clinicians, and staff.

Samaritan Albany General Hospital has served the community since 1924 and marked its 100th year in 2024. The hospital is the first Samaritan-affiliated hospital to receive a five-star quality rating from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Located in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, Samaritan Albany General Hospital is part of Samaritan Health Services. This not-for-profit regional health network places a strong emphasis on clinical quality, safety, and patient experience across its hospitals, clinics, and physician practices.
